Tone - the general attitude of a place, piece of writing, situation, etc.
Theme - the subject of a piece of writing
Connotation - an idea or feeling that a word invokes in addition to its literal or primary meaning
Prose - written language in its ordinary form, without metrical structure
Rhythm - a strong, regular, repeated pattern of movement or sound

Paraphrase - to reword something written or spoken by someone elseInterpret - to explain the meaning of something
Analyze - to examine methodically and in detail
Simile - a figure of speech involving a comparison of "like" or "as," used to make a description more vivid
Metaphor - a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable (Sometimes uses "is", rather than "like" or "as"... such as "love IS a rose" instead of "love is LIKE a rose")
Personification - giving human characteristics to something nonhuman
Denotation - the literal meaning of a word, in contrast to the feelings or ideas that the word suggests

Sonnet - a poem of fourteen lines using any of a number of formal rhyme schemes, in English typically having ten syllables per lineCouplet - two lines of verse, usually in the same meter and joined by rhyme, that form a unit
Cover Song - a recording of a song that was first recorded or made popular by somebody else
